Karkat and Reader

Karkat’s P.O.V.

As you exited the cave you glanced at ______. She was looking straight ahead, holding your hand tightly. You wondered what she thought of you now. She was holding your hand so she didn’t hate you…right? The cave was dark, but your eyes could see clearly into the murky black. _____ however, stumbled on every rock and pebble there was. She leaned closer to you, trying not to fall. You were glad she couldn’t see your face in the darkness. “Karkat?””WHAT?” “I heard something.” She pointed into a patch of dark. “WHAT DID IT SOUND LIKE?” “Scuffling.” You walked cautiously in the direction she was pointing. Sure enough, Jessica was there, leaning on a rock. She was bruised in various places and you could see her red blood on the cave floor. “IT’S JESSICA.” Jessica looked up at the sound of your voice. “Karkat? Is that you? Where’s _____?” Jessica rambled frantically. ______ fumbled through her bag. “I don’t have any light that I can use. You’ll have to show me where she is Karkat.” You nodded and placed her hand on Jessica’s. You saw _____ smile faintly in the darkness. “Thank you Karkat. Now, Jessica, place my hand where it hurts the most.” Jessica placed ______’s hand on her leg. _____ gingerly felt the leg. It was sticking out at an unnatural angle. Panic started o show on her face. “I can’t do this without light.” She turned back, trying to look at you. “I need light.” You placed your hand on her shoulder, making her jump. “I’M RIGHT HERE AND I’M THINKING. DON’T WORRY.” Your mind was a buzz of activity. Rummaging through her bag and looking through your captchalog, you found your husktop. “HOW ABOUT THIS?” You said, switching it on. The light of the husktop shone in the cave, lighting the three of you up. _____ looked startled for a moment, but then nodded, turning back to Jessica. She took out two plump soft cloths and tied them round the leg. She held a thick stick on both sides of the leg and taped them to the leg like a splint. She sat back, surveying the rest of the injuries. Spotting blood on the head, she pulled out a long bandage. She wrapped it around the head, making sure it was solid. “I can’t do anything else. We have to get her to a hospital.” You frowned at the statement. “YOU KNOW I CAN’T GO WITH YOU.” “Not like that you can’t.” She stood up, stretching as she stood. “But first we need to get Jess out of here.”

Reader’s P.O.V.

You told Karkat to find two thick logs in the surrounding bush. He did, quietly grumbling. You noticed Jess looking at you. “How you doing Jess? Not physically, but emotionally.” “A little bit frightened, but apart from that I’m fine.” She frowned a t you. “I’m more worried about you though. I know there’s something on your mind. What’s wrong?” You bit your lip. You didn’t really want to tell her about happened with Vriska. “I don’t want to talk about it.” She looked concerned. She was about to ask again when Karkat appeared beside you two. “I GOT THE LOGS.” You thanked him and he placed them on the ground. You used the logs and tarpaulin to make a stretcher. When finished, Jessica shuffled onto it and lay down. You took one end while Karkat took the other. You then made your way back to the house.

At the house, you placed Jessica on the floor. You glanced back at Karkat, accidently locking eyes with him. “Um, so we don’t really need to hide anything except your horns.” He looked at you like Are you stupid? “We can just explain the rest away as a genetic illness and if they stare or something just give them a really grumpy glare.” You said, grinning at the thought. He followed you as you walked to your bedroom. You opened your wardrobe and began digging through its contents. Finally, you pulled out a black woolly hat with a red pompom. He glared at the pompom, but put it on, grumbling as he did. “Okay, we’re ready. Now I just have to call an ambulance.” He looked confused. “YOU SAID WE WERE GOING TO THE HOSPITAL.” “We are,” you said, holding the phone “but I don’t have any transport. Ambulances are official vehicles of hospitals.” You dialled (countries emergency number) and explained your situation to the operator, leaving out Vriska and the alien part. You hung up and turned to Karkat. “The ambulance will be here I about 10 minutes.” You knelt next to Jessica “Now we just have to wait.”

Karkat’s P.O.V.
You sat in the hospital, ____ next to you. You were in a long white corridor outside Jessica’s room. ____ wasn’t taking her eyes off the door. You ducked your head as another human walked past. What were you going to do? The others were probably freaking out without you. You had no idea how to get back. You wanted to pull out your husktop and contact someone, anyone, but you knew that was hopeless. You glanced at ______. She was coping pretty well with everything that had happened. You wondered what she thought of you killing Vriska. She had looked so pale when she came out from behind that tree. You had seen her glance at Vriska’s blood trail, a horrified yet curious expression on her face. “Excuse me?” You raised your head to see a human standing in front of you. They had on a long white coat and were holding a clipboard. “You are the ones who brought in Jessica Somerset?” “Yes.” ____ answered, trying to hide her nervousness. The human smiled warmly. “She is ready to see you.” You stood up, ____ at you side. She was biting her lip again. In response, you held her hand and tried to smiled for her. She approached the door, a slight pinkness in her cheeks. She turned the doorknob and stepped with you beside her.
